MCL Water and Watersheds Committee Meeting:
Managing Invasive Species on Mt. Tam Watersheds

Marin Municipal Water District's Natural Resources Program Manager Janet Klein will give an illustrated talk regarding vegetation management on the district's Mount Tamalpais watershed. Janet will cover topics including invasive species control, fuel load management, and Sudden Oak Death. Invasive plants, particularly broom, are a serious problem in the watershed, increasing fire risk and threatening native ecology. MMWD is in the process of updating its vegetation management program, which will address these topics. The EIR for the Wildfire Protection and Habitat Improvement Plan is due out about early 2015.
