MCL Water and Watershed Speaker Series:
The Water Bond: The California Water Commission’s Focus on Water Storage and Delta Health
MMWD Director Armando Quintero, appointed to the California Water Commission in July 2014, will speak about the Commission’s role with the Water Bond for California. He will discuss the rule-making for proposals and the process for the assignment of $2.7 billion for water storage projects supporting integrated water resource management and a healthy environment in California.
Along with serving on the Marin Municipal Water District board, Armando is the Executive Director of the UC Merced Sierra Nevada Research Institute; he previously worked as an independent environmental educator and for the U.S. National Park Service.
The California Water Commission consists of nine members chosen for their general expertise related to the control, storage, and beneficial use of water and/or for knowledge of the environment. The Commission provides a public forum for discussing water issues, advises the Department of Water Resources (DWR,) and monitors and reports on the construction and operation of the State Water Project.
