Marin County Groundwater and Wells
An emerging challenge
Scott Callow of the County’s Environmental Health Services will update us on the work of his department granting permits and overseeing wells in Marin County. Several areas of the County rely for their potable water on wells, and many properties use wells for landscape irrigation. In drought years - increasingly likely in the future - our wells can run dry.

In drought years - increasingly likely in the future - our wells can run dry.
In September 2014, Governor Brown signed into law a three-bill legislative package, collectively known as the Sustainable Groundwater Management Act. This act requires local jurisdictions to prepare and implement groundwater management plans. Scott will bring a PowerPoint and fill us in on current county permit requirements for wells. In addition, he will discuss the possible alternatives for implementing the new State mandate to manage ground water.
