Rick Lafranchi of the Lafranchi Family will lead the tour. He is currently serving as the Chairman of the MALT Board. The tour will include:
As the Local Coastal Plan will cover this type of agricultural diversification, members are encouraged to attend this presentation and tour.
We hope the members of the Agricultural Land Use Committee will come, especially those who are interested in the policies of the Local Coastal Plan.
The tour will begin at the sales room of the Nicasio Valley Cheese Company, 5300 Nicasio Valley Road, Nicasio CA, just north of Nicasio Square.
The Lafranchi Dairy is located in the rolling hills and open ridgelines of Nicasio in west Marin County, CA. The Lafranchi Dairy milks 425 cows on 1,150 certified-organic acres. The dairy is a top ten Dairy Herd Improvement Association producer, a prestigious award verifying herd and milk quality excellence.
Founded in 1919 by Fred and Zelma Lafranchi, the dairy was passed on to their children Will, Hank, Ed, Art and Estelle in 1961. Will purchased the ranch from his siblings in 1973 and Will’s children, Randy, Rick, Scott, Jan, Dee, and Kim then bought it in 2005.
