MCL's series on Ranching in the Park

Ranching In the Park: Not by Accident  

A Marin Conservation League series of workshops designed to increase understanding of:
-ranching on lands managed by the Point Reyes National Seashore (PRNS)
-their relation to Marin's larger ranching community
-key issues that will be addressed in PRNS's planning and environmental assessment for ranches in the Park

Check back often for updated speaker details.

Tuesday evenings 6pm-8pm. Locations will alternate between Sausalito and Nicasio. Carpooling encouraged.

A history of the intent and formation of the Seashore and GGNRA

Sept. 27: A day in the life of a rancher Pt. Reyes National Seashore

The ABC’s of ranching and market influences on the economic viability of a ranch on the Seashore

Location: Nicasio School, 5555 Nicasio Valley Rd., Nicasio

Oct. 11: Doing it all: Taking care of the land the ranch

The Point Reyes Peninsula is a treasured geography, uniquely positioned on the margin between land and sea. Protecting the resulting environments and uses is integral to the Seashore's mission and ranching operations. Learn about the preciousness of this landscape, how the Seashore coordinates and delivers multiple mandates to protect it, and the role of on-ranch conservation that contributes to achieving that protections.

Oct. 25: Hopes and dreams
The next generations of ranchers discuss their hopes and plans for the future of ranching in Marin and the Point Reyes National Seashore
